Gershwin, Ira (1896-1983) American lyricist who collaborated with his brother, George Gershwin, as well as with Jerome Kern, Kurt Weill, and Harold Arlen. Approximately 90 envelopes addressed in Ira Gershwin's hand to Ed Jablonski (1922-2004) who wrote biographies of George Gershwin, Harold Arlen, Alan Jay Lerner and Irving Berlin. Twenty-nine of the envelopes are signed "Gershwin" or "I. Gershwin" in the return address. Another envelope has an autograph note on it: "2/16/52 Dear Ed, Here's another packet. Hope you enjoy them and find them as interesting as I did. I." Gershwin lived at 1021 No. Roxbury Dr. Beverly Hills, Calif.
