Lot 64

1803 S-245 R3 PCGS graded Mint State-63+ Brown. Lustrous light steel brown fading to darker steel on the highpoints. Delicate overtones of satiny light bluish steel show in the protected areas. This cent offers outstanding eye appeal. A pair of fine hairline scratches or planchet voids in the field over the hair ribbon are the only notable marks. E-MDS, Breen state I. The die clashmarks on the obverse are strong and the cracks at NITE and MERICA are clear, but there are no cud breaks on the reverse. Called MS61 and tied for CC#1 honor in the Bland/Breen condition census for this variety. Graded AU55 and tied for CC#3 in the Noyes census, photo #20878. Our grade is MS60+. The obverse of this cent is plated in Penny Whimsy. The attribution and Paul Gerrie provenance are shown on the PCGS label. Pop 1; 1 finer in 64.
Estimated Value $10,000-UP.
