Lot 520

1845 N-5 R1 AU55. A sharply struck mint state cent that has a few contact marks at the jaw, including a sharp diagonal nick close to the tip of the chin. Lustrous bluish steel brown and light olive with hints of underlying very faded mint color showing through on the obverse. A small splash of slightly darker toning at star 13 contains microscopic traces of roughness but the reminder of this cent is satiny and attractive. E-MDS, die state a, prior to any die cracks. The die lines above UNIT are clear.
Estimated Value $200-UP.
Ex McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Goldbergs 1/31/2010:532 (lot ticket included).
