Lot 167

1811 C-1 R4 F12. 4-Star Cud Break. Slightly sharper but retoned glossy chocolate and lighter brown. Smooth surfaces, void of any hint of corrosion or verdigris. Just a few tiny ticks in the obverse fields, none significant. LDS, Manley state 5.0, with a large cud break connecting stars 1-4 to the rim. The cud is so large it draws planchet metal away from the opposing details at TED-S, thereby weakening those letters. A decent example of this very popular die state of a tough date.
Estimated Value $1,000-UP.

Realized $2,128
