Lot 1435

1883-S. PCGS graded MS-64. A nice white coin. For the first half-decade of Morgan silver dollar production, issues from the San Francisco Mint are common. A change took place in 1883 and 1884 which, while often with large mintages, are much scarcer in Mint condition than the early years. The silver dollars struck in San Francisco in 1883, while once thought to be unexceptional, are now realized to be scarce or rare. Fully Mint State 64 examples of this issue are desirable since higher end Gem quality coins are virtually unavailable. Pop 394; 23 finer (PCGS # 7148) .
Estimated Value $3,600 - 3,800.

Realized $3,913
