Macedonian Kingdom. Alexander III, the Great, 336-323 BC. Gold Stater (8.58 g) attributed to Babylon, c. 317-311 BC. Head right of Athena wearing triple-crested helmet, decorated with snake. Reverse: Nike standing left, holding wreath and stylis; in lower left field, left-facing head of satyr; in lower right field, monogram within wreath. Price 3735; SNG Berry 83. A few very light marks on edge. Lustrous and a beautifully detailed and struck Superb Extremely Fine example with a scarce symbol.
