Lot 2125

1849. NGC graded MS-61. Mostly untoned. Few collectors have seen a strictly Uncirculated 1849 No Motto Eagle. With that in mind, the importance of this coin in this grade is immediately apparent. Population figures attest to its scarcity. Quite an attractive coin, the fields are bright and frosty while the striking details are strong in some areas but also slightly deficient in the centers where the detail is rarely brought up in these areas. Normal light handling marks. There are no singular abrasions of note on either side, just tiny field marks evenly scattered across both sides. We note a lengthy die crack from the rim through the tops of UN and continuing through the bottoms of TEN before petering away in the field left of D. An important coin for the specialist. Only 625 examples are estimated to have survived. Pop 17; 22 finer, 11 in 62, 7 in 63, 4 in 64 (PCGS # 8601) .
Estimated Value $2,600 - 2,800.
The Dandelion Collection.

Realized $3,220
