Lot 19

1794 C-4a R3 Small Edge Letters VF20. Sharpness VF35 but there are obvious planchet flaws (voids) extending across the obverse. These defects are mint-made, but they catch your eye. The reverse, however, is smooth and quite attractive. Frosty steel brown and chocolate. M-LDS, Manley state 3.0 late. The swelling at the lowest curl is strong and the die clashmarks are bold. Weight 106.0 grains.
Estimated Value $1,500-UP.
Ex Dr. Charles L. Ruby, Superior 2/11/1974:183-Ray Senchuck collection 4/6/1990 (comes with the Ruby lot envelope).
