Lot 1106

BLAZING 1909-D INDIAN PCGS GRADED MS-66. PCGS graded MS-66. Outstanding quality here! Blazing mint luster on the velvety smooth fields and wonderfully preserved. As to signs of age, this coin has virtually none, it appears virtually as the day it was struck, a hint of golden yellow color on the obverse, with a couple of tiny coppery specks which serve to identify this as the coin sold by Superior Galleries in May 1992. Similar on the reverse, a few tiny marks are visible with a strong glass, and a couple of faint toning specks near the eagle.
As to the rarity in this condition, PCGS has only graded 3 coins this high, with 2 coins graded higher. NGC has graded only a single coin as high as MS-66. For the buyer who demands the finest quality and understands the condition rarity offered here. Well worth taking the time just to view this coin, even if its something you can never own, simply to view the coiner's art at its finest.
Estimated Value $30,000 - 40,000.
From Superior Galleries Sale, May 1992, lot 2908.
