Hadrian, AD 117-138. Gold Aureus (7.15 g) minted at Rome, c. AD 125-128 or later. Laureate head right of Hadrian with slight drapery on left shoulder. Reverse: She-wolf left suckling twins. RIC 193; C. 422. Attractive high relief portrait with some luster remaining. Choice Very Fine or better.

The legendary founders of Rome, Romulus and Remus, are depicted in classic pose as infants.
