1797 C-1 R2 Fair-2. 1 Above 1 Variety. Struck over Talbot Allum & Lee Cent. Lightly cleaned and retoned glossy steel brown and chocolate. No roughness but both sides are covered with myriad hairline scratches. The date is mostly gone but the 7 remains visible, and no more than a third of the legends can be made out. Very late die state (VLDS) from a shattered obverse die. The die crack at UNI is strong and there appears to be an additional crack through UNI parallel to the usual one. Struck over a TAL Cent with undertype visible at the top of the reverse. Weight 91.4 grains.
Estimated Value $100-UP.
