Lot 553

ASTP, 1975, Deke Slayton's "Headgear", Lot of two different "hats" including a light blue baseball cap with a large gold "DEKE" on the cloth/mesh top and silver "Scrambled Eggs" on the brim. Extensively faded and well worn with extensive faults and sweatstains (there is a multicolor "J. Miller, Minneapolis, Minn" label inside the cap). ALSO a soft brown-leather flying cap (sweat stains and a couple of lining "holes" inside) with a "Leonhard / 4005 Meerbusch" label inside. We can't say when or where Deke wore these hats, but, based on the sweat and wear, he wore them long and hard. A great pair.
Estimated Value $250 - 350,
Ex. The astronaut Donald "Deke" Slayton Family collection,
