1888. NGC graded Proof 63 Ultra Cameo. Well struck with some minor hairlines in the obverse fields. Only 97 struck. Rich yellow gold, a bright and even shade, with nicely reflective and unclouded fields. The strike is better than often seen, with the delicate hair fully defined. The overall eye appeal is, in a word, quite the thing -- this piece looks like a Liberty Quarter Eagle Proof should, and can be proudly displayed amidst pieces of this Type in any grade. The devices are finely frosted on both sides and stand out in excellent contrast to the reflective fields. Pop 1; 2 finer with 1 in 67*, 1 in 68.
