1885. NGC graded MS-67. Star DPL. Fully struck and an absolutely superb light golden gem. Ony 11,156 struck. This issue ranks among the important condition rarities in the Type 3 Gold Dollar series, from a modest mintage, the present specimen is the single finest 1885 Gold Dollar that NGC has ever certified with the Star and DPL designation. This gorgeous piece presents brilliant and highly mirrored yellow-gold frost, accented by delicious frosted devices. Everything is boldly detailed with the sole caveat that some of the rim dentils on either side are merged together where they failed to evenly fill the die recesses. Even the most demanding connoisseur will appreciate this Superb piece. Pop 1; none finer.
