1936. NGC graded Proof 66. Brilliant creamy-white with a nice cameo effect. This was the first year of production for Half Dollar Proofs since 1915. A fair number of coins fell into the hands of new collectors and non-collectors alike who failed to take proper care of their Proofs. As a result, hairlines and cleaned coins abound; today very few are extant with unaltered, original surfaces. This is such a coin. It is a jewel! And as such is an outstanding opportunity for those knowledgeable in the subject. Notice how every design element rises above smooth surfaces with pinpoint accuracy and strike definition. Problems? There are none! The originally preserved surface makes this a jewel in the crown for the collector of Walking Liberty halves. Pop 322; 7 finer in PF-67.
