Sale 65

Lot 1122

1921. NGC graded MS-65 Full Head. Boldly struck and frosty, mostly whwite. The surfaces are highly lustrous and each side has radiance that swirls and alternates across the surface. A dampened impression is often founded from the weak rebound of the dies that made 1921’s coinage; however, rather than being halfhearted, this particular coin's design is boldly crisp. Pop 19; 9 in 66 FH.

Historic note: Mintage in 1921 for denominations except the Silver Dollar fell markedly from prior years. American business experienced a short, sharp depression during the year. No doubt this was delayed aftereffects from the inflationary war years of 1914-18 World War I. With manufacturing and retailing now at a low ebb there was little demand for new coins. Hence, the hard-to-find 1921-dated issues, like the delightful Quarter Dollar offered here.
Estimated Value $3,500 - 4,000.

Realized $3,680
