Mercury Program, 1959//61, Mercury Spacesuit Location Record Cards. Lot of 30+ 5x8" cards giving the disposition of spacesuits (by suit number) used in the Mercury Program by astronauts and test pilots such as G. B. North, Shepard, Schirra, Grissom, Glenn, Cooper, Carpenter, Dr. Augerson (space medicine), W. North, M. Myers, L. McMillion, W. Douglas, and Slayton. Among the notations is one referring to Schirra's suit No. M-11 which notes that it was sent for Recovery training at the Cape in 1964. In 1979: "This suit was used for recovery training off Cape Kennedy. It was dropped from an airplane and sank. It was recently caught in a fisherman's net in Lake Okeechobee (spelled Oke Chobe on the card) (Chuck Biggs says he would like to retrieve it for Display???). These are probably unique cards and are an important part of the spacesuit record. ALSO INCLUDED are various documents mimeographed and original documents from the early 1960s regarding spacesuits and their inventory. An important lot.
