1844 N-1 R1 AU50. Glossy medium brown with frosty lighter brown covering the protected areas and faint specks of darker brown toning sprinkled in the obverse fields. A couple tiny contact marks show in the field under star 12. MDS, die state c late. A series of small but clear rim cud breaks extend below the date to star 13. The die cracks at stars 9 & 10 are very light and the reverse die is uncracked. This is the Grellman plate coin for the die state in his 2001 edition of the attribution guide for the late date large cents. DWH #2180.
