Lot 722

1805 C-1 R2- VG10. Double Struck over Reverse Brockage. Sharpness VF35 but there are three strong dents on the portrait plus a few additional lighter contact marks elsewhere on that side. The three strong dents created bulges on the reverse. The planchet is mostly smooth but there is some very fine carbon dusted into the field left of the curls. Mostly glossy olive brown and reddish chocolate. Struck with the reverse rotated 30 degrees CW. Double struck. The initial strike was slightly off center. The obverse was struck with the die while the reverse was pressed into another blank planchet leaving an arc through CA and the denominator to the rim above UN. Then the misstruck half cent was struck normally. The obverse impressions are rotated about 15 degrees leaving strong evidence of the doubling on the neck and bust. In addition, the eye of Ms Liberty is clearly visible in the nostril on the dominant strike.
Estimated Value $200-UP.
