Lot 357

1849 N-11 R1 Repunched 1 VF35. Slightly sharper but there are several tiny nicks around star 1 plus other insignificant ticks scattered in the obverse fields. Extremely rare LDS, die state b, with a rim cud break from off the tip of the wreath ribbon to over the left top of the adjacent U (rather than over the right top of the U, which is much more common). The margins of the cud are clear. This is the discovery coin for the die state, which was discovered in 1991, and is CC#1 of only 2 known today. Plated in the 2001 edition of the Grellman book to illustrate the die state. Noyes photo #30403. DWH #2184.
Estimated Value $100-UP.
