Britain. Celtic Coinage, Trinovantes. Whaddon Chase type, c. 55-45 BC. Gold Stater (5.66 g). Abstract head right of Apollo. Reverse: Romanized horse right. Cf. Van Arsdell 1476-3 [as C]. Choice Very Fine.

Some of the symbols on this particular unpublished(?) variant include squiggles that resemble snakes, barrettes, numbers, a tree and even a triskelion. Great imagination is displayed on Celtic coinage!
