Lot 291

1848 N-19 R6- Proof-Only. PCGS graded Proof 65 Brown. Attractive bluish steel brown with slightly faded mint red covering the protected areas. The fields are highly reflective with moderate to deep mirrors and no noticeable hairlines. The portrait is frosty, and the contrast with the reflective fields offers a subtle cameo look. A spot of reddish brown toning high on the neck is the only notable mark. Sharply struck. The fine repunching above the base of the 1 and under the second 8 is clear. A choice example that offers outstanding eye appeal. Called Proof-62 by Del Bland and Proof-60+ by Denis Loring. Our grade is Proof-63, tied for CC#3 in the Grellman census. Comes with an outstanding list of prior owners. The attribution and Dan Holmes provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 1 in Proof-66 Brown at PCGS. DWH #1865 (PCGS # 397617) .
Estimated Value $6,000-UP.
