Undoubtedly this contributes to the popularity and desirability of the modern remakes of the original Pattern coin that is known. Its desirability goes far beyond this. The lore of the Ultra High Relief includes the meticulous striking conditions under which these pieces were produced, their production by presidential order, and the time spent to strike each coin, but let's also give a tip of the hat to the genius who designed it in the first place, the noted sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens.
