Lot 2274

1904. NGC graded MS-66. Lovely rich golden toning. With a high mintage in 1904 and a good rate of survival, this issue is plentiful in terms of total number of BU coins known. Gems are scarce, however, with those in MS-66 always commanding attention.

Silky smooth in sheen, the surfaces are devoid of even trivial distractions. Bold-to-sharp in strike, as well, including all hair strands and central star design, with pretty natural patina to a lustrous, softly frosted finish. Probable this coin will see spirited bidding at auction. Pop 217; 3 finer, 2 in 66 Star, 1 in 67 (PCGS # 9045) .
Estimated Value $8,000 - 8,500.

Realized $10,350
