Lot 1291

1853. Arrows. NGC graded MS-65. Well struck with a hint of gold tone. What is most noticeable when one first examines this Gem 1853 With Arrows Seated Dime is its thick, vibrant mint luster -- it swirls around each side unimpeded by abrasions and untouched by even a hint of discoloration. A coin of singular beauty and importance to the collector and numismatist. A dullish impression was left by the recoil of the dies that struck many 1853 dimes, however, we're pleased to see and report that this is a splendid exception to that rule. The devices are boldly struck. Pop 64; 52 finer.
Estimated Value $1,600 - 1,700.
Ex: Ashland City Collection.
