Lot 1201

1955. Doubled die obverse. PCGS graded MS-64 Red CAC Approved. A fiery mint red coin. In an old green label holder and a Premium Quality example for the grade. Sparkling and satiny vibrant red with rich iridescence over frosty luster. This is a well-struck example of the unusual - some might call it breath-taking - Double Die obverse error, with outstanding details. It has no bothersome abrasions or points of wear, no spotting or toning, and indeed is among the few fully red specimens accounted for after more than half a century in the collector spotlight. Pop 138; 18 in 65 Red (PCGS # 2827) .
Estimated Value $10,000 - 11,000.
