Lot 1090

1847 N-15 R4 PCGS graded MS64 Brown. Repunched 1 & 7. Lustrous steel brown and light olive with traces of slightly faded mint color showing on both sides. The surfaces are covered with satiny mint frost and the eye appeal is excellent. However, there are a few light contact marks, including a couple on the cheek and a tiny one on the center of the eyebrow. Sharply struck E-MDS. The repunching on the base of the 1 and 7 is obvious. Our grade is AU58, CC#4 in the Grellman census. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Pop 2; none finer at PCGS in BN.
Estimated Value $400-UP.
Ex Denis Loring 12/94-Wes Rasmussen, McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Superior 2/8/98:152.
