Lot 1055

1843 N-6 R1 Mature Head PCGS graded MS64 Brown. Repunched 18. Lustrous light olive and steel brown with 10% of the faded mint red remaining. Nicely struck with excellent eye appeal. The notable marks are a very shallow planchet flake in the field right of the hair bun and a carbon spot on the left side of the N in CENT. MDS, die state b, showing a very narrow rim cud break at star 13. The repunching on the bottom of the 18 remains visible. Our grade is MS62, tied for CC#10 in the Grellman census. A nice example of the Mature Head version of 1843 cents. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Pop 1; none finer at PCGS in BN.
Estimated Value $750-UP.

Realized $1,955
