Collection of Seventeen British covers, most large format 6½ x 4½, commemorating British military campaigns and expeditions of WWI, and other events and figures relating to the second World War. Six covers commemorate the historic missions of the Royal Air Forces Escaping Society, and feature lengthy printed texts which narrate the military rescue missions each cover celebrates. Also included are covers commemorating the "35th Anniversary of the Attack on Palermo Harbor by Human Torpedoes"; a ceremonial cover honoring Lord Mountbatten; a French first day cover commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the Invasion of Normandy; three covers with elaborate printed texts that commemorate famous British Naval "Attacks," two signed by the commanding officers of the vessels depicted on the covers; and several others commemorating the military events of World War II.
