Lot 1349

1892-S Morgan Dollar. NGC graded AU-58. Scarce date in high grade. Lustrous, tarnish-free obverse and reverse and attractive for the grade with almost abrasion-free fields. Sharp strike. There is a small diagonal mark below the eye of Liberty along with some milky toning like a thin veil over the surface. We'd be remiss if we didn't mention that the eagle is virtually untouched by bagmarks. As is well known, over 1 million of these were struck. But what seems apparent as well, nearly all '92-S dollars were either put into circulation or melted at the time of the Pittman Act (1918) (PCGS # 7218) .
Estimated Value $1,900 - 2,000.

Realized $6,613
