Julius Caesar, d. 44 BC. AR Denarius struck at a mint moving with Caesar, 49-48 BC. Elephant right, trampling snake. Reverse: Pontifical emblems: culullus, aspergillum, ax and apex. NGC graded AU: Strike 5/5; Surface 5/5.

About 15 years ago, this famous coin type was readily available in groups of ten or 100. Today, they are scarce as hens' teeth, especially so in this elevated condition.
