1896-S Morgan Dollar. PCGS graded MS-65. A gem example, intensely lustrous and delicately toned. It seems probable that most of the 5 million 1896-S dollars that were struck entered into circulation, as circulated examples are seen often while high grade Mint State coins are seldom encountered. Like its similarly dated O-mint counterpart, the 1896-S is an easy coin to obtain in worn grades, but a significant rarity in Mint State. This is a satiny smooth Gem that displays sparkling mint luster under the toning, luster with nice cartwheel spin to it. Well, but not fully struck, there are only the slightest abrasions present on either side. A lovely Mint State 65 example of this conditionally scarce issue.Pop 52; 3 finer, 1 in 66, 1 in 67, 1 in 69 (PCGS # 7244) .
Estimated Value $13,000 - 14,000.

Realized $14,950
