1818 N-2 R4+ PCGS graded MS64BN. PCGS graded MS-64 Brown. Lustrous light to medium brown with peeps of faded mint red showing in some of the protected areas on both sides. There are small splashes of darker toning between stars 4 & 5 and at stars 9-11, plus a bit of reddish brown toning at the T in CENT down into the wreath below. The barest hint of rub on the highest points of the design from mint state. E-MDS with a die crack through the top of UNITED and the adjacent ST plus a radial crack from the top of the T in UNITED to the dentil above, but without a radial crack to the dentils from the crack just left of the first S in STATES. Called MS60 and CC#1 in the Bland census. Noyes says AU50 and tied for CC#1, his photo #21512. Our grade is AU58. (Note: This piece and the following two lots are the top three examples of this tough variety according to the Noyes condition census.) PCGS Population 1; none finer.
