Lot 351

1836 N-3 R1 PCGS graded MS66RB. PCGS graded MS-66 Red & Brown. Lustrous mint red fading to bluish steel and light olive, about half the original color remaining, mostly on the obverse. Essentially perfect save for a few microscopic specks of toning scattered over both sides. The notable spots are nestled between the upper left points of star 3, close below star 9 (actually a tiny planchet flake), and under the first S in STATES. Sharply struck EDS with hard, slightly reflective fields that offer outstanding eye appeal. The fine die polishing lines are clearly visible under the stem tip to CA and through the M in AMERICA to the berry below. Called MS65 and CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #20641. Bland says MS65+ and tied for CC#2. Our grade is MS66. PCGS Population 1; none finer.
Estimated Value $3,000-UP.
