Lot 1487

1892-CC $5 Liberty. PCGS graded MS-63. Nice golden toning. 82,968 minted. A gold, mint-fresh example, as crisp and glossy as when it was first released from to the Treasury for distribution from the Carson Mint. This may end our discussion of the luster, but there is more, much more: This piece is not just close to, but completely and sharply struck, with terrific detail at the hair, stars, and eagle. By the end of the Mint's existance, Carson City mint workers had learned their lessons after the first few halting years of mediocre CC production. This 1892-CC half eagle is a commendable coin in all ways. Pop 13; none finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 8380) .
Estimated Value $4,500 - 4,800.

Realized $4,830
