1903-S Morgan Dollar. PCGS graded MS-63. A very choice example, untoned and blast white. In tune with the 1904 S-mint issue in this series, the 1903-S is a remarkably scarce coin in the finer Mint State grades despite a respectable original mintage of 1.2 million pieces. It seems likely that many coins of this date were included among the 270,232,722 silver dollars that the U.S. government melted under the provisions of the Pittman Act (the silver was sold to the British government which then shipped it off to India during a silver panic in the subcontinent). Bright and fully lustrous, the otherwise untoned surfaces exhibit smooth and silvery iridescence. There are very few of the usual contact marks, and neither side reveals any singularly distracting nicks or spots. A bold strike rounds out this coin's list of positive attributes (PCGS # 7288) .
Estimated Value $4,500 - 5,000.

Realized $6,038
