Outstanding Archaic Poseidonia Stater. Very rare. ΠOM (retrograde). Poseidon, diademed, advancing r., brandishing trident held high behind head and with chlamys falling over each shoulder, dot and cable border. Reverse: Same type and inscription as on obverse, but reversed and in incuse and showing Poseidon from behind, incuse cable border. SNG ANS 613 (same dies). De Hirsch, 172 (same dies). Pozzi, A.I.I.N. 9-11, 1964 pl. 3, 3 (same dies). Same dies as Hunt I specimen and of superior quality. Well centered and well struck, toned. Nearly Extremely Fine.
