1878-CC $20 Liberty. NGC graded EF-40. Only 13,180 pieces struck. Evenly worn with untoned surfaces, the fields minutely abraded from its years in circulation. The CC-mint issues struck in the earliest years of the new Type 3 design are all scarcer than those before (1874-76) or later (1880s), and so attract a lot stiffer bidding when one is offered for sale (PCGS # 8986) .
