Lot 1593

1868-S $20 Liberty. PCGS graded MS-62. A wonderful frosty mint beauty featuring mint bloom colors of pale olive and golden-orange. The 1868-S is an often overlooked coin in the Type 2 series, definitely underrated and one that is seldom available in mint condition, bagmarked or clean surfaced, frosty or dull. In fact, no other pieces have been so graded by PCGS. This coin is an original coin which delights in having fresh warm golden-orange patina that includes reddish accents. It is relatively free from bagmarks. It is not in the least bit dull. On the contrary, it is loaded with frost, especially on the reverse. Soft strikes are all too common with 1868-S. However, this problem isn't universal; there are a few that are fully struck and present offering is one. Minimal abrasions present for the grade. Certain to provide a good showing when it gets auctioned. Pop 1. The finest graded at PCGS (PCGS # 8954) .
Estimated Value $20,000 - 25,000.

Realized $28,175
