Lot 1348

1856-S $1 Gold Indian. ANACS graded Details of AU-55. Scratched and possibly lightly cleaned at one time, but all in all an attractive example of the scarce 1856-S Type 2 motif. The Small Indian Head type was produced in 1854-56 only. San Francisco struck the design exclusively in 1856, however. The other branch mints did not make gold dollars again until the switch to the Large Indian Heads of 1856 and later. Scarce. Only 24,600 minted (PCGS # 7536) .
Estimated Value $850 - 900.

Realized $1,064
