Lot 1344

1855 $1 Gold Indian. EF-40. Lightly toned with attractive surfaces; there is even some luster within the devices of this desirable Type 2 specimen. The small Indian head design replaced the Liberty head wearing a coronet that had been in production in 1849-54. However, the Indian heads of this style lasted only from 1854 until 1856 due to difficulties in striking the coins properly.
Estimated Value $300 - 325.

Realized $575
