Lot 4138

1895-S Morgan Dollar. Paramount Red holder graded MS65. Our grade is MS64. A worldly measure of pouring cartwheel luster livens up the wide expanse of surface on both sides of this scarce 1895-S Morgan dollar. The fields are for all intents and purposes gem quality with only minor diminishment from the MS65 grade, while the strike is intrepid enough to call for special mention. A very valuable property in this outstanding condition.

Where are the Redfield silver dollars now? Although dispersed a quarter of a century ago, they might be found anywhere today. Most are in PCGS or NGC slabs. Occasionally, you will find one dollar in one the original special Paramount holders with Redfield's name inscribed on it. Imagine, today when you purchase this silver dollar, you hold in your hand one of original silver dollars once owned by the eccentric LaVere Redfield. They caused a good deal of excitement in their day when they were fought over in a Nevada courtroom and then finally distributed into the marketplace in 1976 and 1977 and beyond (PCGS # 7238) .
Estimated Value $6,500 - 7,000.
Ex: Redfield Collection.
