Great Britain. Kings of All England. AR Penny, ND (Steyning, struck 1053-1056). North-825; S-1179. 1.29 grams. Edward the Confessor, 1042-1066 AD. Pointed Helmet type. Helmeted, draped, and bearded bust right, holding scepter; +EDPER ·D REEX: around. Reverse: Central circle, short voided cross within, annulet at center, arms terminate in trefoils; PVLERIC DN STÆ around. Splendid strike and flan, if a trifle doubled on obverse, but with very handsome, artistic toning, medium to dark gray. A very elegant coin. As Struck, no evident wear. Rare mint, in rare condition.
