Great Britain. Kings of All England. AR Penny, ND (London, struck c. 1017-1023). North-781; S-1157. 1.08 grams. Cnut (the Great), 1016-1035 AD. Quatrefoil type. Crowned and draped bust left, within quatrefoil (with pellet at each apex), pellet behind king's bust; + CNVT REX ANGLORVM around. Reverse: Long voided cross over quatrefoil, pellet at apex of each cusp, arms terminate in trefoils; +EAD PRIO TNLV NDE(N?) spaced around arms. Crisp strike, on choice flan and metal; some die rust (?) visible in the legends. Choice silvery to medium gray toning, with soft array of peacock colors throughout. Lustrous. NGC graded MS-63.
