Great Britain. Kings of All England. AR Penny, ND (Northwestern mint). North-707; S-1113. 1.40 grams. Eadred, 946-955 AD. Two-line type. Horizontal Rosette issue. Moneyer, Regder. Central circle, small cross pattee within; + EADRED REX broadly spaced around. Reverse: Inscription in two lines: REGÐE / RES MOT in upper and lower registers, pellet rosettes above and below, with three crosses across center. Boldy struck on large flan, on choice metal. Even medium gray toning; the recesses silvery to colorfully iridescent, with residual luster. Scarce as a type, but the cataloguer has never seen a finer example. NGC graded MS-63.
