Lot 1146

Mexico - Guerrero. Revolution. Peso, 1917-Go-S (Cacahuatepec). WR-R7; Eliz-MX 200; KM-651; GB-150. 29.99 grams. Eagle and snake on cactus. Reverse: Liberty Cap, rays behind. Very fine strike, and free of serious handling marks. The fields surprisingly clean for these often worn or badly mishandled issues. Handsome old toning - a deep medium gray, with some warmth in the recesses.

This issue based on the venerable Cap and Rays 8 Reales of previous years. Slightly better than the F.C.C. Boyd specimen, which had long been considered the finest known. NGC graded AU-53.

The only 1917 Peso of the Revolution.
Estimated Value $7,000 - 8,000.

Realized $16,675
