An Enameled Box, plus Ivory Netsuke and Carvings. China & Japan, c. 19th - 20th century. The vintage box is kidney-shaped and constructed of tinned or silvered copper, with lid and wall engraved with floral arabesques, and enameled a deep turquoise blue. On the box's wall is engraved a large crown with flower ornament, which is replicated in ivory as an attachment to the lid. Most of the carvings of more modern date, and comprise popular subjects: "happy Buddhas," various animals (real and traditional), an octopus clinging to a peach, along with two "bobble head" men -- perhaps immortals. Also an old (1940's-50's?) plastic molding of Gamma Sennin. Inspection recommended. Length of box: 6-1/4". Lot of 17 items.
Estimated Value $900 - 1,200.
