Roman Imperatorial Period. Julius Caesar, d. 44 BC. AR Denarius, Rome mint, Jan. - Feb. 44 BC. Laureate head right; CAESAR. IM P M, with crescent between last two letters. Reverse: Venus stands left, holding Victory and scepter; L AEMILIVS BVCA. Craw. 480/4; BMCRR 4152; Sear II 1408; Sear Imperatorial, 102; RSC 22. Faint banker's mark to left of Venus. Both sides struck a bit off center. Otherwise, good strikes on superior metal, with artistic old toning. Excellent, bold portrait. Very Fine.
