Lot 2694

1925 $20 St. Gaudens. PCGS graded MS-64. Frosty and lightly toned. This year presented a difficult situation for the United States Federal Reserve. Britain was attempting to return to a modified gold standard in 1925. However, it needed help from it's partner in crime, the FED. The American central bank goosed the money supply to insure that interest rates here stayed low, and that gold wasn't exported to the U.S. from Britain. The FED accomplished this through various and sundry means, all detailed in the history books. The unanticipated consequence of this was a roaring stock market boom on the New York Stock Exchange. We all know the result (PCGS # 9180) .
Estimated Value $1,050 - 1,100.

Realized $1,524
