Eaton, John Henry. Leben des Generals-Majors Andreas Jackson…. First and only edition. Reading, Pa: Johann Ritter und Co., 1831, 419pp, 8vo. A translation by Gottleib F.J. Jäger of U.S. Brig. Gen. Eaton's biography of Jackson, made for the German American population in Pennsylvania. The book covers "…the Commencement of the Creek Campaign to the Termination of Hostilities Before New Orleans," plus a short history of the war against the Seminoles. With 1828 portrait frontis of Jackson engraved by CG Childs of Philadelphia. Mounted to rear endpaper is a folding, hand-colored 11¼" x 8¾" map by A. Finley of the U.S. at that time; overall toning. Hard cover, marbled boards with leather spine and tips. Considerable wear; bindings are tight.
